Sweet Sketch Wednesdy #56

Happy Wednesday!

It's Sweet Sketch Wednesday and a fun day for all with a great challenge and sketch from Arlana.

This sketch is filled with lots of fun - less for you to think about on your canvas!

Our sponsor this week is Bugaboo Stamps. The winner of this challenge will get seven (7) stamps at a value of $21! How cool is that?

Guess what - Jodie is having a 50% off sale! I follow her blog so I am so thrilled I didn't miss it! Yep, I went shopping for Stella!! You should check it out because deals this great won't last forever! Click here to get to Jodie's blog!

Unfortunately, this is my last week as a design team member with Sweet Sketch Wednesday. I have had the best time with this team, as the ladies are so talented and you always get inspired by their delightful projects and lots of support. It has been a great experience! I'm stepping down to concentrate more efforts to my challenge blog and my digital web store.

I'm delighted to be able to ink up Stella, my favorite digital character. She has a lot of spunk and never ceases to say what's on her mind; that's me (when I have to be). I love these papers and color scheme, so it was great to give Stella a birthday blast that she'd enjoy!

I hope you'll join in on the challenge over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday and see the wonderful things the design team has made. Let's keep this party jumping! :-)

Happy Crafting! :~)

Beary Cute..

Hey y'all,

Today was the first day in so long that I was able to create for fun.

This is Bridget from Pollycraft by Paula. Isn't she just the cutest little bear? I won her (and a slew of others) from Lisa, who was holding blog candy from many sponsors as a way to get people to make a card for her sister, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I did a frog (image was a freebie donated by Paula) card and posted it. I was happy to send a "fun" card that might help brighten someone's day. I wasn't expecting to win. So, I inked up a bunch of those lovely prized images (one of my favorite digital designers).

I'm even entering this card into a few challenges:

Pollycraft Monday - "Pinkalicious"
Crafty Catz Weekly - "Let's Go Digital"
Just Cute Bears - "Open Theme"

I'm having a fun day (for a change) today---I hope you are too! Thanks for stopping by! :-)

Celebration...

Hello everyone,

I think the weekend shot out and appeared quicker than I realized. Are the days pummeling through faster or am I just moving a bit slower as I get older?

Tellen's Place is now a group on the Crafter's Digital Art Center. You'll find a number of digital groups here and we're all showcasing our digi's. I just posted a bit of fun to boost off our presence there and if you click here, you can join in the fun.

Here is Edward with the American flag flying proudly behind him. Because I didn't have time to get patriotic images together from my son, I thought I would add something to make it appropriate for Fourth of July, which is coming up next weekend.

I made the second ATC card using an image of myself that Markus had drawn (all the DT has one of themselves), used clip art from Microsoft for the background, adhered glue and added MS's fine glitter. I love that stuff! I sealed this with Stampin' Up's Crystal Effects - a very nice effect, indeed.

I hope your weekend is fabulous and if you get a chance to stop over and check us out at the CDAC, cool!

Happy Crafting! :-)

Summertime....at Tellen's Place

Hello there,

Tellen's Place
will be hosting their last challenge this week but not their last post. The design team is being given a summer break to refuel and relax. But the blog will be going full blast all week long, so stay tuned for some really fun stuff happening there. This week's challenge is summertime....here's what I created:

I kept the front of my card relatively plain.

But there's a party going on in the inside...look at Ally in her sunglasses, the baby on the ball, Sophie in her swimsuit and Jessica looking like she can just jump for joy that summer is here. Edward, the ever present, Mr. Cool, is just letting the sun give him a gorgeous tan..haha...This stair step card was made following this "stair step fold" tutorial here.

Come join the fun and check out what the design team divas have made to inspire you. There is a groovy prize and will be more - so head on over there and do your thing! :-)

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Crafting! :-)

Sweet Sketch Wednesday #55

Hello sweet bloggers!

It's Wednesday and that means time for Sweet Sketch Wednesday. This week, I get to post the challenge there. :-)

This week, we have another fantastic sketch, provided by Arlana. Nancy and Judi are the sisters who help provide support and crafting fun to this great design team!

Shirley's 2 Girls is our sponsor this week. This week, I was given an image with a beach theme in mind. Isn't that cool?

I decided my image should be in purple (one of my fun colors) and there was a little blue in the paper so that made a great accent color to coordinate with.

If you get a chance, stop by Sweet Sketch Wednesday and see the other designs made by the team as they are fantastic!

It's All About Me and my Mom

Good morning everyone!

Now you know I love doing the All About Me challenges. Every challenge brings about a thought provoking motivation and the design team is awesome with their sensational inspirational designs. I also love that they take the time to come and comment on your blog when you enter their challenge - it just makes it even more special. This week's challenge is "Who's Your Idol?" hosted by Mo, who really knows how to scrap a page! It would be great if you could stop by AAM and check out what they've designed around this week's topic. The ladies are so fabulous and I love to read their stories.

I was really excited because I received my blog prize from Mo from a recent hop at AAM. I was ecstatic because in the big box was a stack of "My Mind's Eye" paper - I just love paper. So I picked the color I wanted to use and added these roses that I received in a swap - aren't they cute - I didn't take a great picture but you'll see more of these beauties in a bit.

This butterfly was added; one I had printed from Microsoft clip art gallery and added crackle accents (not a good photo here).

This crown is a "Pink Paislee" stamp and I love it! It has great detail and so I had to add diamond dust to those gems because Queens always have jewels in their crown. So, who is my idol?

Yep, it's my Mom, Luvenia. This picture was taken when she was quite young. The journaling reads: "Even as a little girl, I always wanted to make my parents proud and be like my Mom. I can't cook soul food like she did, but I can cook all those other dishes she taught me. What a woman! My Mom!" There's no one like my mom and I always keep her in my heart!

I love the colors in the paper and that I didn't have to add much to "negative space." Part of the package from Mo is the frame around her name, the top note, which I covered with more paper in the stack pack. She gave me a lot more and I plan to use it all up! *big smile*

I'm going to enter this page into the challenge at All About Me - it's such a fun blog! You'll love it too so go on...go on and have some fun...make it all about you for a change! :-)

Thanks for stopping by - have a great scrapping day!

Sweet Sketch Wednesday #54

Happy Wednesday!

It's time for another Sweet Sketch Wednesday challenge!

Arlana has provided yet another fabulous sketch to follow. I know you're gonna have fun with this one!

This week, we are sponsored by KLM Designs. The prize for this challenge will be this Crocus image above.

KLM is also offering this adorable cutie as a freebie for our followers - how cool is that?

I was given this sunflower to ink up and I wish I had sunflower paper in the background. This would have made an awesome die cut. But I had some cool paper to work with (K & Company) and the colors came together pretty well for this card.

I'd like to announce the winner on my blog for Sweet Sketch Wednesday's Anniversary Blog Hop. Her comment on my post was:

What a sweet little mouse! I love how you cut him out... your card is amazing!! I already am a follower!!! Hope all is well!

Going to the Chapel...

Good morning lovely bloggers!

This week at Tellen's Place, we are winding down, getting ready for summer, which brings us to a new challenge: "Going to the Chapel - Time for Weddings."

There is never an end to June weddings and my first marriage, I actually wed on June 16th (so many years ago). King Mufasa and I celebrated in January (but wasn't approved by the judge until February - we had a beautiful Moroccan wedding in Morocco).

For this challenge, I did a traditional design, completing the picture with paper piecing using textured card stock so that you can see the dress better.

I added stickles to the pin flower and looped pearls underneath it. I love my paper - Stampin' Up! I didn't have to think twice, just reversed it and there I had a coordinated patterned paper to enhance the burgundy, which I topped with a die cut from my lovely blogger friend, Diane, who sent me a boat load of gorgeous dies - you'll see more of these soon enough. I added tule as her veil, topped with some paper flowers I received in a swap. Isn't it gorgeous?

Typically, I do not enhance the inside of cards (too much work) but I couldn't resist using a reverse side of my Stampin' Up! designer paper. Don't you love it? I punched out hearts with the other side of the paper...man, I was in paper heaven!

I made these for another DT - a trio of wedding cards.

This is a wedding card to send to the bride and groom-to-be. I used K&Company die cuts, embossing some squares for the background - pretty elegant, I'd say.

This is the wedding invitation.

The inside of the invitation - a trifold.

This is a Thank You note the bride would send to those gift-givers.

This the inside of that Thank You note.

Check out Tellen's Place Divas - they really did a great job creating some lovely designs (and not just cards) for this challenge. We hope you'll join us in the fun!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a groovy Wednesday! :-)

Notes

Hey y'all,

I was crafting virtually with my buddy and DT member, Pam yesterday. I watched as she put together the cutest journal that she sells in her local craft store and had an idea. Since I love to make notes and keep lists, why not make a note book of my own.

I love this paper, don't you? It's K&Company's "Floral Dreams" and I love stacks - there is always coordinating papers to choose from. So, I used chipboard - 6 x 6, punched two holes and added eyelets (good old Crop-a-dile) and binder rings. That gorgeous frame is from Diane (you should see her latest creation; so fabulous) - wasn't it great of her to send so many die cuts -- oh boy, paper, paper, paper...thrills me to no end! No ribbons or fibers because it's for practicality not beauty. :-)

The inside paper was cut to fit - came from one of the many notepads I have. I can refill it with whatever paper I choose. This is a great way to use up scrap paper, y'all. Remember I told you when organizing my scrap paper, I cut them in various sizes for specific use - well, that's one of them and I will always have paper so guess who is making note books to give away? Heehee....

Happy Crafting! ;-)

A Special Card...

Today is a special day for a special guy in my life...my love...King Mufasa.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY baby!

My husband is on my blogger e-mail distribution and though he doesn't read my posts, he does look at the pictures (hahaha). I made a very simple card using Graphic 45 Le Romantique designer paper. I love this paper but I wasn't trying to do the "vintage" thing because though he appreciates my crafty talents, King Mufasa would give an ornate card about 10 seconds and rip it open to see what is inside...cash! :-) He and I know what we want when we want it and have no problem enunciating that to one another happily. ;-)

Happy Birthday my love...

I hope everyone has a beautiful Sunday - thanks for stopping by!

Tags, Tags, and More Tags

Hello everyone and Happy Friday!

My blogger friend and DT member, Robin J. had a blog candy giveaway for her birthday awhile back and I was one of the fortunate winners. Robin did make a simple request of the winners - to use the goodies in a craft and post.

As soon as I received my package, there was no doubt on making anything because it was a SUPER package! I immediately made a memory box and used some of the beautiful green K&Company flowers she had sent.

This card was made with the papers that were included in the package - love that paper!

I made this tag using the die cut, butterflies, and epoxy words on this tag for one of the swaps I was in.

Then I made cards with the paper and then I made these tags for her, her sweet daughter, Temple and her husband, Charles.

I used epoxy letters to spell out Robin's name. The felt flowers were so cute and came in a variety of sizes. She also had some acrylic die cuts (top right of the tag).

The package also included a pack of these really cute die cuts like the "fun" - great for scrap pages and the camera - isn't that cute? The "best buds" were a bunch on a sheet and looked like life savers. I just loved it!

The package also included felt stickers (the blue tulip top with the heart). I spelled out Temple's name on this one. Let me tell you - this was an exceptionally wonderful package and I wanted to make something for Robin and her family because of her generosity. She's such a wonderful person! Thanks again Robin!

Thanks for stopping by and checking things out. Happy Crafting Friday! :~)
